Brockton fire destroys restaurant on Main Street

BROCKTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A massive fire broke out at a Brockton restaurant this morning.

According to authorities, the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Main Street in Khalil's Kitchen after firefighters received multiple reports of smoke and fire coming from a building.

The building also houses Garcia's Grocery Store and Tropical Store.

The third alarm fire was so intense that Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said the roof began to collapse in several places, while the left side of the building began to tilt.

Nardelli told news crews that some people had escaped from the basement of the building.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

“These firefighters have been working all day, responding to multiple calls throughout the day, now at one in the morning they are already tired from working all day and the humidity lingers in the air. They preserved through that,” Nardelli said.

ABC 6 will provide more updates as we receive them.
