BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This little wannabe gang member and drug dealer was actually babysitting two young children when he was arrested with enough fentanyl in his possession to kill more than 126,000 people.

That's right, Riley Thompson was babysitting two small children when agents from our Special Investigations Unit went to arrest him for dealing fentanyl and dealing methamphetamine and found him with just as much fentanyl.

Thompson's arrest occurred yesterday afternoon when officers went to execute a search warrant at 1245 Palm Bay Rd., Melbourne, and upon arrival observed Thompson leaving the scene.

Following the investigation by the Special Investigations Unit, Thompson was transported to Ivey's Iron Bar Lodge where he was held without bail on three counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, three counts fentanyl trafficking and possession. with a short-barreled shotgun, possession of cocaine, possession of psilocybin mushrooms and child neglect.

As officers from our Fugitive Unit went to arrest Thompson, he fled on foot and was observed discarding several bags of narcotics and a firearm as he attempted to evade arrest.

Apparently Thompson never got the memo that if you run from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office you'll go to jail tired, so after a brief foot chase he was knocked down and tackled by a member of our squad and taken into custody without further incident. .

Immediately after taking Thompson into custody, officers were preparing to execute a search warrant at the apartment when they learned that Thompson had left two young children alone inside.

As a result, officers quickly executed the search warrant and found not only the two young children, but also a significant amount of drugs located in close proximity to the children.

In fact, in the same apartment where the children were left alone was approximately 253 grams of fentanyl, which is enough to kill nearly 126,000 people if administered in a lethal dose.

Approximately 176.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 100.9 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, 13.3 grams of suspected cocaine, several boxes of THC cartridges, 3 firearms including a sawed-off shotgun and 4,030, $00 in U.S. currency was also seized from inside Thompson's apartment.

It makes me sick to think that this little bastard not only had enough fentanyl to kill such a significant number of our citizens, but also left two defenseless little children alone in an apartment with fentanyl, meth, cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms.

Thanks to the quick actions of our agents and team, Thompson's little butt is now locked behind bars where he belongs, and both children have been safely returned to their families, with DCF also informed of the 'incident.

Folks, this is one of those cases that you have to be sure to watch how it plays out in the criminal justice system because if he gets a BS bail amount or the charges are reduced, something is wrong. really wrong in our society!! You can bet I'm going to follow it because enough is enough!!
