Brentwood man found guilty after jury trial of fatally stabbing his cousin and trying to kill his cousin's girlfriend

(SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY) – Suffolk County Prosecutor Raymond A. Tierney announced today that Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina, 38, of Brentwood, was convicted after a jury trial of second-degree murder and attempted murder in the second degree, for fatally stabbing his cousin at his workplace, then he went to his cousin's home in Brentwood and stabbed his cousin's girlfriend in front of his 21-year-old son.

“While this guilty verdict can never reverse the extreme violence and tragic outcome resulting from this defendant's murderous actions, we hope it brings some peace to the victims and their families,” said Prosecutor Tierney. “I want to thank the Suffolk County Police Department for their investigation of this case, the jury for their careful attention during the trial, and my prosecutors for obtaining justice for the victims. Thanks to them, this accused will have to answer for his crimes.

Evidence at trial established that on March 30, 2023, Andrade-Molina and his cousin, Miguel Andrade-Cando, worked together as machinists at Electronic Machine Parts in Hauppauge. Around 7:22 a.m., surveillance video captured Andrade-Molina arriving at work shortly before Andrade-Cando. Just minutes after the victim arrived, the defendant fatally stabbed her in the neck. The business owner discovered Andrade-Cando lifeless on the floor in a pool of blood.

Immediately after killing his cousin, the defendant drove directly to Andrade-Cando's Brentwood home that his cousin shared with his girlfriend and her 21-year-old son. Once there, Andrade-Molina entered the house and stabbed his cousin's girlfriend approximately nine times, nearly killing her. Her son, who was sleeping at the time, woke up to his mother's screams as she was attacked. When the young man tried to help his mother, Andrade-Molina advanced towards him with the knife and threatened him. Andrade-Molina then returned to the victim and continued to stab her before running away. The Suffolk County Police Department located Andrade-Molina in Bay Shore a short time later and placed him under arrest.

The victim, a female, suffered life-threatening injuries, including a laceration of the liver, punctures to the diaphragm and lungs, and lacerations to the arm, shoulder, chest and torso.

On May 23, 2024, Andrade-Molina was convicted of second-degree murder, a class A felony, and attempted second-degree murder, a class B felony, after a three-week jury trial heard before the Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei.

Andrade-Molina is due back in court for sentencing on June 24, 2024, and faces up to 50 years to life in prison. He is represented by Steve Politi, Esq.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Elena Tomaro and Dena Rizopoulos of the Homicide Bureau, and the investigation was conducted by Detectives David Gelsomino, Michael Ronca and Frank Sierra of the County Police Department's Homicide Squad. Suffolk.
