DADEVILLE, Ala. (WRBL) – The search for Quanisha Davis, 30, of Alexander City, Alabama, ended in tragedy as her remains were discovered Thursday morning in a wooded area near Herren Street in Dadeville, in Alabama. Davis, reported missing on May 24, was last seen on May 17.

The Alexander City Police Department, Dadeville Police Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Department and the State Bureau of Investigation are jointly investigating. Early this morning, around 7:45 a.m., Davis' remains were found, leading authorities to transfer the missing persons case to a homicide investigation.

At a news conference Thursday afternoon, law enforcement first offered condolences to Davis' family and friends. Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett announced that Robert Lee Young, 55, of 243 Aster Street, Dadeville, was arrested and charged with murder. Young, who was in a romantic relationship with Davis, remains incarcerated in the Tallapoosa County Jail awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for later this week. Investigators say at this time they cannot comment on the evidence that led to Young's arrest.

The victim's body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Davis' white 2006 Ford Explorer was also found on May 29, around 6:40 p.m., in another wooded area near North Loop Road in Dadeville.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information on the whereabouts of Quanisha Davis before her death to contact Alexander City police at (256) 234-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 334-215-STOP (7867).
