Boy, 16, walked six miles to kill teen at sleepover in 'violent, premeditated attack': sheriff

Alexander Warren Hernandez has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the death of Connor Michael Gill. He was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and armed burglary.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 in Wildwood, Florida. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's OfficeHernandez “arrived unannounced” at a sleepover Gill was hosting at his home and “knocked” on the door before forcing himself into the residence.

“The juvenile victim went to open the door when the suspect entered the home. Upon entering, the suspect stabbed the juvenile victim and threatened a third victim,” the sheriff's office said. “The adult victim came to inspect what was happening and was also stabbed by the suspect.”

Emergency services treated both stabbing victims at the scene, before they were airlifted to nearby hospitals. Gill was pronounced dead three hours later, around 1:19 a.m.

Authorities say suspect was known to victim; Hernández reportedly fled on foot but was taken into custody in the evening. According to sheriffs, the victim and suspect “had withdrawn from Sumter County schools and were home schooled.”

In a video shared on the sheriff's Facebook pageUndersheriff Pat Breeden revealed the two weapons believed to have been used in the attack: one appears to be a pocket knife, while the other resembles a hand scythe.

According to Breeden, Hernandez was still in possession of the murder weapons at the time of his arrest.

“This was undoubtedly a premeditated and targeted attack,” said Breeden, who says the suspect told detectives he ordered the weapons online last Thursday. After their arrival Saturday, he allegedly “unpacked the weapons, played with them for a little while, then walked nearly 10 kilometers to the residence” where the attack took place.

Breeden said a motive has not yet been determined, adding that additional charges could be filed.

“One thing is certain, this is a violent and premeditated attack,” he concluded.
