Boy, 13, charged with attempted murder of teenager in Glasgow park

A young boy has been charged with the attempted murder of a teenager in a Glasgow park.

Emergency services rushed to Greenfield Park, on Erskbank Street, near Shettleston, in the east of the city, following reports of a “disturbance” at around 8.15pm on Friday.




Paramedics responded and a 16-year-old boy was found seriously injured. He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police have confirmed that a 13-year-old boy who was arrested has been charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder of a 16-year-old man during a disturbance in the Cranhill area of ​​Glasgow.

“Emergency services were called to Greenfield Park, Eskbank Street, at around 8:15 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, and found the victim seriously injured.

“He was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff described his condition as critical.
