Boxer Ryan Garcia arrested for alleged vandalism at Beverly Hills Hotel

Incident leads to potential charges amid personal, professional turmoil

Boxing star Ryan Garcia was arrested Saturday for vandalism following accusations from a Beverly Hills hotel that he caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD ).

The Waldorf Astoria Hotel decided to press charges after BHPD arrested Garcia at 5:45 p.m. after receiving a call about an intoxicated guest. Hotel management has not fully disclosed the nature of the alleged vandalism, other than that the hotel room and hallway were damaged. Garcia posted photos from late April at the hotel with Donald Trump on his Facebook page.

Garcia apparently had a medical issue after being booked by BHPD and was taken to Cedar Sinai Hospital for evaluation and treatment. His attorney, Darin Chavez, said Garcia could also be charged with public intoxication.

In a statement released later Saturday, Chavez noted that the arrest came at a particularly difficult time for Garcia, who is dealing with his mother's health issues, as cited by People Magazine.

“Ryan has spoken openly about his mental health struggles over the years, and right now he is facing an immense emotional burden,” Chavez said. “The support and understanding of fans and audiences is crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring he receives the appropriate help and care to ensure his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on his family and his health at this time.

A case will likely be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. TMZ obtained video that allegedly shows Garcia being led out of the hotel in handcuffs while wearing a bicycle helmet that covered his face.

The incident at the Waldorf Astoria was not Garcia's first encounter with the hotel that week. Previously, authorities were called for a welfare check after a relative reported that Garcia needed help.

Hours before his arrest on Saturday, Garcia posted messages on the social network Twitter, accusing people of protecting “pedos.”
