Boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested Saturday (June 8) on suspicion of vandalism for allegedly causing an estimated $15,000 in damage to a Beverly Hills hotel, authorities said.

ESPN reported that Garcia, 25, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Saturday after a driver dropped him off at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, 9850 Wilshire Blvd. Hotel staff contacted the police.

The hotel decided to file a complaint once the police arrived. It's unclear what type of damage the boxer may have inflicted on the hotel, ESPN reported.

After being booked into the Beverly Hills Police Department jail, police said the 15-time national amateur champion complained of a medical issue and was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

A watch commander with the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed Garcia had been arrested but had no immediate further comment.

Garcia's attorney, Darin Chavez, told ESPN that the arrest comes “at an extremely difficult time for Ryan as he grapples with devastating news regarding his mother's health.”
