Bowling Green man indicted for alleged rape in 2022

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing several charges after police say he had sex with a minor.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department arrested William Deaton, 21, of Bowling Green, on Friday, June 14, for second-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor, first offense – unlawful sexual act under 16 years old. age and second degree sodomy.

Police went to Deaton's home Friday for an interview. Meanwhile, the uniform citation says Deaton was mirandized and waived his rights, claiming he had sex on two occasions with a 13-year-old victim.

Police say this is a case they responded to on November 23, 2022 for a reported rape.

Police said the suspect was identified as Deaton, who the victim said had sexual contact with her. Two days after police responded to 2022, they say Deaton went to the Bowling Green Police Department to talk about “being accused of rape.”

The uniform citation states that police were able to review information on Jan. 13, 2023, from the victim's forensic interview, which indicated that Deaton had sexual contact with the victim. In March 2024, police said they were able to review a forensic interview with a member of the victim's family, who stated that Deaton was present on the day of the incident and that the victim reported sexual contact with the victim.

Police say they also received results on April 3, 2024 for a sexual assault kit from 2022.

Police say Deaton was 20 years old at the time of the incidents.

Deaton was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Detention Center.
