Boulder View Fire Burns 1,000 Acres Near Scottsdale

PHOENIX — Some Scottsdale residents were forced to evacuate Thursday due to the Boulder View Fire, authorities said.

The fire forced evacuations about five miles east of Carefree, near the Boulder Heights subdivision, around 6:30 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

Five structures have been evacuated and 50 buildings are under threat.

The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. near the Boulder Heights community north of Scottsdale and had grown to 500 acres by 4 p.m. By 6 p.m., the fire covered 1,000 acres.

Several planes and 150 firefighters were dispatched to help contain the fire.

The fire was caused by man and the incident is under investigation.
