Boston police arrest teen with loaded gun in Dorchester

BOSTON — Officers with the Boston Police Department arrested an 18-year-old Dorchester resident on firearms-related charges Wednesday evening following an investigation in the area of ​​60 Southern Avenue.

At approximately 6:34 p.m., members of the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit and officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) observed Yozaxi Peguero, along with a group of young teenagers, engaging in abusive behavior. suspicious manner.

Peguero was seen on several occasions checking his messenger bag and imitating the action of pulling with his hands.

When officers tried to approach the group, they scattered, with Peguero making his way toward a basement door in the building.

A chase ensued, during which Peguero allegedly resisted arrest and grabbed his fanny pack.

Officers were able to subdue Peguero and later found a loaded Bryco Jennings firearm on the second floor landing.

The weapon was equipped with one cartridge in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine.

Peguero now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device and breaking and entering during daylight hours.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
