Boston police arrest man on drug charges in North End

BOSTON — Officers with the Boston Police Department's District A-1 Drug Enforcement Unit made a major drug bust Monday morning in the city's North End.

Around 10 a.m. on July 1, police arrested Fortunato D'Ampolo, 22, of Boston, on multiple drug and criminal trespassing charges.

The arrest took place during a surveillance operation at Culitto Park, located at 10 Stillman Street, following reports of suspected drug activity in the area.

D'Ampolo was allegedly involved in a drug deal with a 34-year-old man when officers intervened.

Police seized a significant amount of drugs: 27 grams of fentanyl, 38 grams of crack, 52 oxycodone pills, 16 Xanax pills, 4 clonazepam pills and 2 gabapentin pills.

Additionally, agents seized $1,842 in cash from D'Ampolo.

The 22-year-old is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges including Class A Trafficking, Class B Trafficking, Class A Distribution, Class B Distribution, Class A Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class B Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class C Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class C1 E Possession with Intent to Distribute and Criminal Trespass.

Authorities also plan to issue a subpoena to the second individual involved in the transaction for possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs.

The name of the second individual has not been released.

The investigation into drug activity in the North End continues.
