Bong LDEA brings 5 ​​alleged drug traffickers to justice

GBARNGA, Bong – The Bong detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has arraigned five persons in court on drug trafficking charges.

They are Alex Teah, Christ Cole, Enoch Sayweh, Ezekiel Zayzay and Jannet Paye. Cole and Teah reside in Monrovia, while Paye and Zayzay reside in Gbarnga. Sayweh resides in Nimba.

LDEA Commander in Bong, Gilbert Roberts, said The bush chicken that the five suspects were arrested separately with several packages of Kush and marijuana totaling more than 128 kilograms.

Roberts said he and his team of LDEA officers in Bong are working hard to ensure the county is rid of drug traffickers. He said Bong is “one of the epicenters of drug trafficking in Liberia.”

The influx of these substances into Liberia, he noted, continues to “recklessly kill the younger generation on a daily basis.”

Roberts wants county citizens to work with the LDEA and provide information on drug dealers in the county. He said this would greatly help the LDEA combat the prevalence of drugs in the county.

He stressed the importance of community cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing the agency's responsibility to preserve Liberia's image and protect its citizens from the dangers of drug abuse.

Roberts took over as LDEA director in Bong on June 4, 2024 and has since vowed that the LDEA will not rest on the issue of drugs in the county, adding that it will continue to be strong in ensuring that Bong County becomes a drug-free county.

“As LDEA officers, we have an obligation to protect, enhance and maintain the image of Bong County and Liberia as a whole,” Roberts noted.

Roberts highlighted the harmful impact of drug trafficking on the younger generation, expressing his determination to eliminate the influx of illegal substances into Bong.

Roberts said the LDEA is deploying more officers to the various entry points in the county and called on the government to ensure mobility to enhance the LDEA's operations in Bong.

The LDEA is a semi-autonomous agency under the Department of Justice, responsible for the effective and efficient enforcement of controlled drug and substance laws.
