Body of teenage hiker found in ditch on Margalla Hills trail after extensive search: police – Pakistan

The body of a missing teenager was found on Margalla Hills Trail 5 in Islamabad on Monday after a long search operation, police said.

According to a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, by the Islamabad police, the body was found in a ditch and arrangements were made to recover it, the statement said.

The city superintendent of police (SP) and the search team were present at the spot along with family members of the deceased, according to police.

“It appears the teen got lost and fell into the ditch after his foot slipped,” the statement read.

“Further investigation is underway and an autopsy of the body will be carried out to cover all aspects.”

A first information report (FIR), a copy of which is available with Aube.comwas filed at the request of the mother of the deceased on Sunday afternoon at the Secretariat police station.

According to the FIR, the teenager went hiking on Trail 5 on Saturday at 7 am with five of his classmates.

Around 5 p.m., the mother of the deceased received a call from one of the friends informing her that they had arrived at her house and asking if her son had also arrived at his house, to which she replied in the negative, a clarified the FIR.

The mother called Rawalpindi's helpline 15 and several police officers quickly arrived at the scene to help search for the teenager, according to the FIR. Despite extensive searches, the body could not be found by nightfall, the statement added.
