Body of missing teenage hiker found in ditch in Margalla Hills: ICT police

The body of a missing teenager was found on Margalla Hills Trail 5 in Islamabad on Monday after an extensive search operation, police said.

According to a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, by the Islamabad police, the body was found in a ditch and arrangements were made to recover it, the statement said.

The city superintendent of police (SP) and the search team were present at the scene along with family members of the deceased, according to police.

“It appears the teen got lost and fell into the ditch after his foot slipped,” the statement read.

“Further investigation is underway and an autopsy of the body will be carried out to cover all aspects.”

A first information report (FIR), at the request of the mother of the deceased, was filed on Sunday afternoon at the Secretariat Office.

According to the FIR, the teenager went hiking on Trail 5 at 7 a.m. on Saturday with five of his classmates.

At around 5 p.m., the mother of the deceased received a call from one of the friends informing her that they had arrived home and asking if her son had also arrived home, to which she replied in the negative , the FIR said.

The mother called Rawalpindi's helpline number 15 and several police officers soon arrived at the spot to help search for the teenager, according to the FIR. Despite extensive searches, the body could not be found by nightfall, the statement added.
