(KRON) — Missing motorcyclist Caden Blackman, 21, was found Tuesday under a series of cliffs at Pacifica Beach. Police said Blackman went missing earlier in the day.

At 1:25 a.m., officers with the Pacifica Police Department said they first went to a residence on Keith Avenue for a welfare check. Blackman, however, had already left his house on a motorcycle before they arrived, PPD said.

Later Tuesday, Pacifica police and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office received information that Blackman may be in the Devil's Slide area in unincorporated San Mateo County. Upon arrival, authorities located Blackman's motorcycle, but not the Pacifica resident himself.

Police officials then collaborated with the North County Fire Authority, the U.S. Coast Guard and the California Highway Patrol to conduct a ground and aerial search.

Initial search efforts were hampered by “darkness, rugged and dangerous terrain, and weather conditions,” leading officials to list Blackman in the nation-wide database of missing and unidentified persons. the state.

During a subsequent aerial search mission around 9 a.m., Blackman's body was located on “the beach below the cliffs in this search area,” PPD said. His body was turned over to the San Mateo County Coroner's Office, who later identified him as the Pacifica resident who had gone missing earlier in the day.
