Body of missing man found aboard airboat on Lake Washington

Body of missing boater found after weekend search along Lake Washington near Melbourne, Florida Fish and Commission

The body of a man who went missing this weekend during a private airboat ride on Lake Washington has been found, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission announced Monday.

The man's body was found around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The state agency identified the man as Brian Rodriges, 51, of Melbourne.

His body “was found in the search area where the subject had gone missing,” said Chad Weber, a spokesman for the Florida Wildlife Commission. “The investigation remains ongoing. »

The search began after 4 p.m. Saturday when a woman reported a man had fallen overboard from an airboat. FWC agents along with deputies from Brevard and Orange county sheriff's offices used lights, drones and sonar to find Rodriges, authorities reported.

The lake is within a 25-acre recreational area in Melbourne and is popular with boaters. Like other Florida waters, alligators are found here.
