Body of missing American tourist found in Greece, others still missing

The body of a 70-year-old American tourist missing since Tuesday on the Greek island of Mathraki was found on Sunday, while searches continued for several other tourists missing on different islands.

The discovery of his body by another tourist was reported by Greek media, according to EuroNews. The man, who has not been publicly identified, was last seen at a tavern with two female tourists in Mathraki, west of the island of Corfu. He had been staying in Mathraki by a Greek-American friend who arrived at his house Thursday and found the door to his house open, the lights and air conditioning on, and his guest missing with his travel documents, investigators told ABC News. The women he was with had already left the island.

Another tourist found the man's body in the sea near Mathraki port and called police, CBS News reported.

He is the second missing tourist in as many days to be found dead on a Greek island. The body of a 74-year-old Dutch tourist who went missing on the Greek island of Samos was found face down in a ravine on Saturday. He had last been seen the previous Sunday, stumbling in the scorching heat.

The search continues on the island of Amorgos for retired Los Angeles County deputy sheriff Albert Calibet and on the island of Sikinos for two French tourists aged 73 and 64. Calibet went missing Tuesday after taking a four-hour hike to meet a friend. It never arrived.

Last week, Michael Mosley, a British journalist and television personality, was found dead on the island of Symi, several days after disappearing during a walk in scorching heat.
