Body of missing 19-year-old found in Red River north of Fargo – InForum

FARGO — The body of a man reported missing earlier this week was recovered from the Red River Thursday night, July 4.

A passerby near the El Zagal Golf Course called 911 to report the body around 9:45 p.m. A Fargo police officer located the man's body in the river near the 1400 block of Elm Street South, according to a statement from the Fargo Police Department.

A WDAY News crew saw police launching a raft into the river to recover the body. A coroner's van was also at the scene.

The man pulled from the river was Arthur Wiebe, 19, of Hunter, according to his family's Facebook posts. Wiebe disappeared from south Moorhead late Monday night.

In a second appeal for help finding Wiebe on Thursday, police said he had “minimal life experience and a very small social network.”

Our newsroom sometimes publishes articles under the byline “staff.” Often, the byline “staff” is used when rewriting basic news stories from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, that require little or no reporting. Sometimes, this byline is used when a news story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported information from a variety of sources. If outside sources are used, this is indicated in the story.
