A body found in the sea off Rethymno, Crete, was identified Thursday as belonging to a 67-year-old man who disappeared on April 13.

Authorities said his identity was established through a DNA test.

The missing man was a passenger on the Kissamos ferry, which operates the Souda-Piraeus route. At some point, under unclear circumstances, he fell overboard while the ship was sailing 17.7 nautical miles southeast of Hydra. A search and rescue operation failed to locate him.

His body was found on May 13 off the beach of Geropotamos, in the region of Rethymno.

Her daughter filed a missing complaint with the police.
