On Tuesday, 06/25/24, at approximately 2:27 p.m., Sheriff's Office and emergency personnel were dispatched to the Eau Claire River between Harstad County Park and the County Road D bridge in Lincoln Township, for a body located in the river by a kayaker. Rescue personnel used boats and all-terrain vehicles and were able to reach the individual, who was confirmed dead.

A positive identification was made and it is confirmed to be Robert A. Hanson. Hanson was seen underwater while fishing on Saturday, 6/22/24, in the area of ​​Highway 27 and Black Bear Road, north of Augusta.

It was reported that a man was seen attempting to cross the river on foot and fell underwater. The witness, who was fishing with the subject, did not see him again after that. Due to recent heavy rainfall, the river was high and moving quickly.

A large contingent of fire and rescue personnel from several area fire departments and law enforcement responded to the scene and began a river search by water and air, which continued Sunday. The subject is identified as Robert A. Hanson, 35, of Eau Claire.
