Body found in Arkansas River during search for missing teen

Otero County officials recovered a body from the Arkansas River Tuesday evening amid the search for a teenager who went missing in the river last week.

Devlin Cambeul, 19, went missing on the river early in the morning of Wednesday, June 12, and search and rescue teams were unable to find his body, sheriff's officials said Friday. Authorities have not yet confirmed that the body discovered is that of Cambeul.

On Tuesday shortly after 10 p.m., the Otero County Sheriff's Office announced in a statement on social media that a body was found in the river just north of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail yard near La Junta.

Officers responded to reports of a body in the river around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.

Otero County Sheriff's deputies, La Junta Fire crews, the Otero County Coroner, Otero Emergency Manager and members of the 16th Judicial District Attorney's Office responded to assist in the recovery .
