Blue 2 Fire at 0% containment, reaches 6,800 acres on Memorial Day

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — After 11 days of continuous flames, the Blue 2 Fire has grown to more than 6,800 acres, according to the Village of Ruidoso's official Blue 2 Fire page.

From 7:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, confinement remains at 0%t. Authorities say 532 people are working on the fire today.

Air resources are very active on the fire: videos of an air tanker dropping fire retardant on the northwest part of the fire surfaced yesterday. Authorities plan to use more air resources today.

Authorities are advising tourists and locals to stay away from the fire area.
