Sirens sounded in Bloomington, Illinois on Friday following reports of a tornado near Hudson. However, authorities have since confirmed that no tornado occurred and there is no further threat to public safety.

Bloomington police released the following statement on Facebook:

Yes, you heard the warning siren outside. We have been inundated with calls to our 9-1-1 center regarding this siren, everything is now clear. We are still under a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 p.m. This was not a test, but there is no longer a threat to public safety. Potentially dangerous storm activity has been identified near Hudson and is moving toward the city. The McLean County Emergency Management Agency has been in contact with the National Weather Service and has since received the all-clear. It was determined that when the funnel was on the ground, it was a “gustnado” in front of the storm system. It was throwing debris into a field and has since risen again.
