Blood found at missing Flagstaff woman's home, police say; neighbors saw fight

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZ Family) — An Arizona family has obtained court documents detailing the arrest of the husband of a missing Flagstaff woman, saying blood was found in the home and neighbors saw the couple fighting before she disappeared.

Daniel Anthony Paduchowski, 58, was arrested Monday, a day after reporting his wife, Kelly Paduchowski, 45, missing.

Police said Tuesday that Kelly may be the victim of homicide.

According to court documents, neighbors heard loud screams coming from a woman around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a neighbor saw Kelly lying on the ground in the yard, motionless on her stomach. Daniel was on top of her, his hands on her shoulders.

Five minutes later, her husband saw Kelly lying on her side, motionless, but Daniel was gone.

A few minutes later, both of them had disappeared from the backyard.

Court documents state that about 90 minutes later, the neighbor saw Daniel using a garden hose to spray water on the area where Kelly was lying.

Police said Daniel told them he last saw Kelly around 1:30 p.m., saying she was going to Lake Mary to run and swim.

Earlier in the day, Daniel said he and Kelly had been biking together on the Schultz Creek Trail.

He reported her missing shortly after 7:30 p.m.

According to court documents, police spotted fresh blood outside the garage door of the Paduchowskis' home while they were there to question Daniel.

They also found blood on the patio, as well as a bloody footprint, investigators said.

Officers also reportedly saw a gray shirt, pants and hat that appeared to belong to Kelly inside a trash can.

According to court documents, when authorities expressed suspicions about Kelly's disappearance and his lies, he neither confirmed nor denied any information. He said he wanted a lawyer.

Police said Daniel appeared to have injuries to his hands and knee and referred to Kelly in the past tense, saying she “was a beautiful woman.”

Daniel was arrested and booked for aggravated assault and possession of dangerous drugs.

His bail was set at $500,000.

Kelly's car was found at Campbell Mesa Trailhead, where Daniel was seen on surveillance footage.
