SARGODHA (Dunya News) – A day after a Christian man was attacked by an angry mob for alleged blasphemy here, police on Sunday registered a case against 500 unidentified individuals, including 40 women.

The incident took place in the Mujahid settlement, where an accused mob entered a house, beat its owner and vandalized his property for alleged blasphemy. The angry mob also set fire to a shoe factory built inside the house and damaged electrical installations.

The police transported the injured man by ambulance to an undisclosed location.

According to police officials, the FIR registered includes sections related to rioting, vandalism and terrorism.

They said 40 unidentified women were also named in the case, accused of incitement.

Details indicate that 28 people have been arrested so far for rioting, vandalism and arson involving the house and the factory located there.

Police officials said the main suspect involved in the incident has already been arrested and a case has been filed against him.

Security has been beefed up across Sargodha district, with additional police deployments.

Police officers are stationed outside churches, while a heavy police presence is maintained in the mujahid settlement.
