Black bear found dead near walking trail in Arlington

The Arlington Animal Welfare League is asking the public for any information regarding this incident.

ARLINGTON, Va. — The bear's body was found in a plastic bag near a walking trail Friday evening, according to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

Animal Control responded to a report of a deceased dog around Spout Run Parkway near North Adams Street around 8:30 p.m. Friday, but instead found a black bear in a plastic bag.

The bear was removed for further investigation and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington is asking the public for information related to this incident. Anyone who may have seen one or more people carrying a large plastic bag in the area is asked to call 703-931-9241 or email [email protected].
