Birmingham police investigate overnight homicide, shooting

Birmingham police said they are investigating a homicide and shooting that occurred within hours of each other Friday night into Saturday morning. Starting with the most recent, officers were dispatched to North 41st Street for a ShotSpotter call around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The call was later updated indicating that a person was on scene. Birmingham police said they are also investigating a late-night homicide in Ensley.

Police were called to a shooting call on Avenue D around 9:40 Friday evening.
