Birmingham police investigate overnight homicide, shooting

Birmingham police said they are investigating a homicide and shooting that occurred within hours of each other Friday night into Saturday morning. Starting with the most recent, officers were dispatched to North 41st Street for a ShotSpotter call around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The call was later updated indicating that a person was on scene. After arriving, police said they found the victim, Brandon Wilson, 31, lying at the intersection of 41st Street and 5th Court North suffering from a gunshot wound. was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead. >> THE LATEST: WVTM 13 Headlines and Weather Birmingham police say they are also investigating a late-night homicide in Ensley. call on Avenue D around 9:40 Friday evening. Upon arrival, officers found a man inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not yet been revealed.
