Big rig accident slows Highway 126 near Piru

A large flatbed crash on Highway 126 slowed traffic in both directions west of Piru for hours Thursday morning.

The collision, which involved three other vehicles, was reported around 8:20 a.m. near Powell Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A tractor-trailer jackknifed into the center divider, redirecting drivers into a single lane in each direction, CHP Officer Ryan Ayers said.

All lanes were reopened around noon.

The tractor-trailer, which was carrying about 76,000 pounds of trash and recyclables, was heading east when the driver drifted onto the right shoulder near Powell, Ayers said. The tractor-trailer struck a Moon Valley Nurseries truck parked there.
