Biden and Trump nearly tied among Wisconsin voters ahead of debate

WATERTOWN, Wis. — In its first presidential election poll since Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts, the Marquette Law School Poll found the former president and President Biden tied among registered Wisconsin voters — but one has a slight edge among likely voters.

Conducted June 12-20, the poll found the rivals were 50-50 among registered voters.

But among likely voters, Biden comes in with a 2-point lead over Trump in the battleground state heading into tonight's debate, with 51% to 49%.

Marquette Law's last poll of Badger State voters was in April, before Trump's convictions, when the former president led Biden by 2 points among registered and likely voters.

Including all six presidential candidates, Robert Kennedy Jr. gets 8%, Trump 43% and Biden 40%.

Thirteen percent of registered Republican voters and 98% of registered Democratic voters believe Trump is guilty of all 34 charges he was convicted of last month; 54% of independents believe he is guilty.

None of the registered Democratic voters in the Wisconsin poll believe Trump is innocent, compared with 72% of Republicans and 28% of independents.

In the Senate race, Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin, who leads Biden in polls in Wisconsin, leads Republican opponent Eric Hovde by 5 points, 52% to 47% among registered and likely voters.

Hovde's team noted the nearly 5-point margin of error in the poll and referred the Post to last week's Emerson poll that showed a 3-point gap between Baldwin and Hovde.
