Biden admin gave Ukraine green light to strike Russia with US weapons, report says

The Biden administration has given Ukraine the green light to use U.S. weapons in an attack on Russia, according to Politico.

In a statement to the publication, an anonymous official explained that the recent decision would guarantee the nation the ability to defend the major city of Kharkiv.

The president recently directed his team to ensure that Ukraine is able to use U.S. weapons for counterfire purposes in Kharkiv so that Ukraine can retaliate against Russian forces that strike or prepare for them. to hit them,” the official reportedly said.

The official also reportedly explained that the policy allowing long-range strikes in Russia “has not changed.”

This news follows the Biden administration's announcement that the United States is pledging an additional $275 million in military aid to Ukraine. This is the fourth aid program dedicated to this country in difficulty, which in February passed two years of war with Russia.

Ukraine received $1 billion in aid from Belgium last week. That donation included a promise of 30 F-16 fighter jets over the next four years and the potential for a Patriot air defense system to defend civilian areas and power grids.

Spain also contributed $1.1 billion to Ukraine's defense fund, promising to provide $5.4 billion by 2027. Hungary weighs $7 billion in aid despite its alliance with the Russia.
