Beverly Marcia Maxwell arrested on drug charges

LOCAL WOMAN ARRESTED ON TRAFFICKING CHARGES

On the evening of June 7, 2024, Hendry County deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 78, which resulted in the arrest of Beverly Marcia Maxwell, 58, of LaBelle.

While speaking with Maxwell, Hendry Deputies noticed a bulge in his clothing. Maxwell was found to have concealed what was identified as a “crack pipe” in his clothing. Hendry deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a plastic bag containing white residue, which tested positive for cocaine.

Maxwell was taken into custody and transported to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office. While en route to the Hendry County Jail, Maxwell was asked again if she had any additional drugs on her; she admitted to concealing other illegal narcotics, consisting of both cocaine and fentanyl, on her body. She handed them over to law enforcement.

In addition to this arrest, on June 8, 2024, additional drug charges were filed against Maxwell, involving a prior investigation with Hendry deputies.

Maxwell is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances and trafficking fentanyl. She is being held in the Hendry County Jail without bail.
