Beijing firefighters battle a house fire Tuesday night

TAZEWELL COUNTY (25News Now) – A fire in Tazewell County late Tuesday night severely damaged a home and a vehicle on the property.

Pekin Fire Department Local 524 said on its Facebook page that crews were on the scene of an active structure fire near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Cypress Point, which is in Country Club Estates between Pekin and Groveland.

Jennifer Heyder said her daughter, son-in-law and their six children live in the home at 6 Cypress Point. She said they escaped safely, but she did not know what happened to the family's pets.

Heyder sent photos and video from the fire scene, which show the house and a vehicle badly damaged.

Firefighters were still on scene after midnight on Wednesday.
