Beaverton man arrested after eluding police at more than 110 MPH

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Beaverton man faces criminal charges after he drove police at speeds exceeding 110 mph before breaking into a home Friday, Portland police said.

Officers first responded to reports of a theft of a green 2010 Subaru Outback station wagon in Southeast Portland around 6:30 p.m. They then began following the driver, who was later identified as being Dalton Williams, 24 years old.

Williams — who authorities say has a history of illegal gun possession — went to the intersection of SE 122nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard when police say he eluded them for 20 minutes while he was “driving in an extremely reckless manner.”

“He traveled through Southeast Portland, Gresham and Northeast Portland, on highways, arterial roads, neighborhood streets, even on the shoulder and on a bike path,” according to police. “Meanwhile, the driver was exceeding 110 miles per hour.”

The chase ended when Williams crashed head-on into a Portland police car with two officers inside, after which he then ran on foot and briefly entered a northeast Portland home. Portland before turning himself in to police, officials said.

Williams now faces several charges, including hit-and-run, evading police and burglary.
