Beavers win trap shooting title | News, Sports, Jobs

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Beaver Local trap team won the Ohio State Class 2A high school trap shooting championship on Sunday at the Blackwing Shooting Center.

The top five shooters on the Beaver Local team earned a combined score of 474 out of 500, two birds ahead of defending champion North Ridgeville.

Cooper McCaslin of Monroe Central was the top individual with a 98. Beaver Local took the next two spots with Kane Curran in second with a 97 and Jackson Thomas in third with a 97.

Other Beaver Local leaders were Hunter Allen (97), Trenton Cable (93), Keith Gamble (90) and Jason Tatgenhorst (90).

This is the fourth year Beaver Local has fielded a team and the roster has grown to 47 shooters.

Beaver Local's Ava Aftanis took first place in the girls' junior varsity division, scoring 71 out of 100.

Twelve team members will travel to Mason, Michigan, for the National High School Championship July 7-11.
