Beaumont police arrest man in 1999 woman's disappearance

Acting on new information, Beaumont police, along with several assisting agencies, began searching the home Monday morning.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont police have arrested a man in connection with a 25-year-old case involving a Beaumont woman who disappeared in 1999.

Police arrested Terry Rose, 67, after executing a search warrant at his home which resulted in evidence being obtained.

Rose was taken into custody at 6:15 p.m. Thursday by the Beaumont Police Special Assignments Unit.

On Thursday, FBI agents and police began breaking up concrete and digging up the driveway of a home in Lindbergh while continuing to search the property.

The FBI joined police in the search Tuesday morning and used ground-penetrating radar and cadaver dogs to assist in the search, according to Beaumont police Tuesday morning. No other new information has been released.

Police say recent developments in the 1999 disappearance of Kimberly Langwell led detectives to execute a search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of Lindbergh Dr., according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Acting on new information, Beaumont police, along with several assisting agencies, began searching the home and an adjacent business, Terry's Wrecker Service, Monday morning and said they hope to find evidence that will help solve the case from 1999.

Police say they cannot release details at this time, but believe the search has provided “significant progress” in the case. Police say they will release more details as the case progresses.

The search warrant, which was signed by Jefferson County Criminal District Judge John Stevens, remains sealed.

Officers searched property owned by Terry Rose, who dated Langwell before he disappeared, his family told 12News Monday. Rose had already consented to the search in April, her family told 12News.

Langwell, who was 34 at the time, was last seen July 10, 1999, records show. Her car was found abandoned in the car park of Phelan Shopping Center on Dowlen Rd with her mobile phone in the car, but her keys and purse were missing.

His case was recently featured on an episode of Cold Justice on the Oxygen Network.
