Bay Shore's Peter Pan Diner damaged by fire overnight

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that tore through the Peter Pan Diner on Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore early Tuesday.

Authorities said the fire was reported at 1:39 a.m. and firefighters from Bay Shore, West Islip, North Babylon, East Islip, Central Islip and West Sayville were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 3:37 a.m., authorities said.

The restaurant was closed when the fire was reported and no one was inside at the time, police said. No casualties were reported in the early days, police said.

Investigators from the Islip Town Fire Department and the Suffolk Arson Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
