Bangladesh, leader in human trafficking by sea in Europe

Human trafficking is increasing day by day in Europe. 12% died crossing Europe illegally. In the last five years, 247 cases of human trafficking were reported in Madaripur, of which 1,252 were accused. Although only 164 people were arrested. But not a single one was punished. Bangladesh is at the top of the list to reach Europe by crossing the Mediterranean Sea. In the first 4 months of the current calendar, 21% of people entering Europe via this dangerous route are Bangladeshis.

Bangladesh tops the list of people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, according to UN statistics. Its amount is 21%. Among them, 12% of Bangladeshis are dying.

According to local people, it is better not to go abroad on such a risky route. Many people died or never returned. But no one should go abroad like this.

The burning question remains: why are Bangladeshis taking this path, one of the deadliest in the world? When asked about this, a person named Bandhan Mandal, who survived the boat, said, “After preparing to go abroad, I was told that the visa would be obtained within a year. 1 lakh was paid for this. But 1 was payable after receiving the visa. They take Tk 30,000. and the rest, they will not come back to me. Later we had to choose the path from Libya, called Libya Game.

Madaripur is one of the illegal immigration areas of Bangladesh. According to calculations, over the past decade, many Bangladeshis have died en route to Italy crossing the Mediterranean Sea, many of whom live in this upazila of Rajoir.
