Bamberg Co. Sheriff's Department officers will receive new bulletproof vests thanks to assistance grant

BAMBERG, SC (WJBF) – Five Bamberg County Sheriff's Department officers will soon receive new bulletproof vests.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety's Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP), the Sheriff's Department is receiving new body armor through a $9 Bulletproof Vest Assistance Grant. $266 publicly funded.


According to OHSJP, “The South Carolina General Assembly has designated one-time state funds for the purpose of providing financial assistance to local units of government for the purchase of body armor for its enforcement officers laws. »

The Bamberg County Sheriff said quality body armor is an essential part of effective law enforcement and therefore funding is critically important.

“We are extremely grateful to the SC Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) as well as Bamberg County administrators who collaborated on this effort,” said Bamberg County Sheriff Kenneth Bamberg. “My deputies and I are committed to serving the citizens of Bamberg County, and these new vests will help us in that effort while providing an added level of protection.”
