LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man shot at police officers and took a woman hostage Thursday in Omaha, authorities say.

Jason Davenport, 42, remains at large, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Around 8:15 p.m., law enforcement was attempting to arrest Davenport at a home near 30th and L streets. The Council Bluffs, Iowa, man had a warrant for his arrest after fleeing law enforcement last week, the patrol said.

But Davenport came out of the house firing a handgun, authorities said.

Several troopers and an Omaha Police Department officer returned fire, according to the patrol.

Authorities said Davenport took a woman hostage and fled in a gray Ford Fusion.

Police pursued him but lost sight of the car about 2 miles south in Upland Park.

Officers from several agencies searched the area, according to the patrol, and OPD and state helicopters flew overhead.

But the patrol said there was no sign of Davenport, the hostage or the car.

Davenport is approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs between 170 and 200 pounds. He has a large tattoo on his neck that says “Blessed.” If you see him, call 911.

The patrol said no police or state workers were injured.
