Authorities identify man who drowned in Grand River in Riverside Park

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A man who drowned in the Grand River near Riverside Park has been identified as Miguel Angel Correa, 28, of Walker.

Grand Rapids fire administrators on Monday, June 10, identified Correa as the person who drowned.

Correa was seen in the water around 10:05 p.m. Thursday and a passerby tried to help him. The passerby tried to swim towards the person, but was unable to do so.

On Friday, firefighters recovered Correa's body.

It was unclear why Correa was in the river.
