Australian brothers killed in Mexico say goodbye weeks after death

The parents of two brothers killed “execution style” during a surf trip in Mexico have farewelled their sons at an emotional ceremony in Perth.

Australian brothers Jake, 31, and Callum Robinson, 32, along with their American friend, were killed “execution style” while in Mexico on a surfing trip. Their parents first sounded the alarm when they had not been in contact or had not checked into their accommodation as planned.

The brothers' bodies were later discovered 10 meters from a well south of the city of Ensenada.

Three Mexican nationals have since been charged in connection with the killings. Authorities described it as a “robbery gone wrong”, with the alleged perpetrators attempting to steal tires from a van before being confronted.

Yesterday, hundreds of people gathered at Sacred Heart College, in Sorrento, a northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, where the brothers had spent their high school years.

9News reported that their parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, reflected on their sons' “beautiful life” during the memorial service.

Parents Martin and Debra Robinson thanked their loved ones in Australia and overseas for their support.

“Callum and Jake meant so much to us and it’s still hard to imagine life without them,” Debra said.

“They were intelligent, respectful men and had so much more to offer the world.

“They loved life and followed their dreams.”

The brothers' close friends and family spoke of fond memories of the couple, including their love of adventure.

“We are not here to dwell on the where or how or to try to understand why they passed away, but rather to say goodbye to two young men and hopefully begin the healing process,” he said. Martin said.
