(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – An Aurora man is facing multiple charges after allegedly resisting law enforcement and attempting to disarm a police officer.

Lance Davidson was taken into custody last Sunday and charged with possession of methamphetamine (enhanced level 3 felony), disarming a law enforcement officer (level 5 felony), battery on a public safety officer (level 5 felony) and resisting law enforcement (level 6 felony).

A Lawrenceburg police officer was driving on State Road 48 and was unable to read the license plate of a black Cadillac sedan, driven by Davidson.

After following Davidson into Ludlow Hill Park, the license plate came back on a different vehicle than the one it was on. At that point, a traffic stop was initiated. During the stop, Davidson told the officer he was “on his way to go fishing.”

According to a press release, Davidson was unable to provide insurance and was asked to exit the vehicle, which he refused. Other officers arrived on scene to assist. While attempting to remove Davidson from his vehicle, he allegedly became “extremely” aggressive and struck the officers before unsuccessfully attempting to grab the gun from one of them.

He was eventually subdued and taken to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

The officers involved received small lacerations and scratches during the altercation.

During a search of Davidson's vehicle, officers allegedly found 22 grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.

Davidson is being held on $250,000 bail and $25,000 cash bail.
