Attleboro man accused of stabbing his brother to death to appear in court to face murder charge

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) – An Attleboro man accused of murdering his brother will face an enhanced murder charge today.

James McCormick, 51, was arrested for allegedly killing his brother Richard.

On Monday, police were called to a home on Melissa Drive for a reported disturbance around 3 a.m.

When police arrived, they found the victim outside suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He was rushed to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McCormick was initially scheduled to undergo a dangerousness hearing, but the Bristol County prosecutor later upgraded the charge.

The fight between the two brothers on Memorial Day began when Richard made comments about James' girlfriend, according to his defense attorney.

James allegedly stabbed his brother ten times in the head and body.
