Attempted arrest for murder in Des Moines skate park shooting

DES MOINES, Iowa — An arrest has been made in a shooting that seriously injured a man at Lauridsen Skatepark earlier this month.

Tereall Green, 30, was charged with attempted murder on May 17.th shooting, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek. Green was booked into the Polk County Jail Tuesday evening.


A DMPD officer on patrol in the area heard gunshots around 3:58 a.m. and officers quickly located the scene at the skatepark parking lot at 901 2sd Avenue shell casings were located there.

Sgt. Parizek said the shooting victim, a 20-year-old man, was taken to MercyOne Medical Center by private vehicle. His injuries were initially thought to be serious, but he is now expected to survive.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and determined the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery. The victim and a friend were in a vehicle at the skate park when they were approached by a group of men, including Green. Sgt. Parizek said Green displayed a handgun and tried to take the victim's watch. Green and the victim struggled to control the weapon and the victim was shot in the abdomen.

Police found Green Tuesday at a residence on the south side of Des Moines and he was taken into custody without incident. Two firearms were also recovered.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
