Police said upon further investigation, Flynn noticed smoke coming from inside the home and a person hanging from a second story window.

Flynn quickly learned there was a fire and immediately kicked down the front door and headed toward the smoke-filled residence.

Once inside, police said Flynn found a 17-year-old girl standing out the window and led her outside to safety.

Flynn then went back inside the home to help locate the family's pets, including three dogs and a cat.

Police said Atlantic City firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire that was coming from the kitchen.

“I commend Officer Flynn for his quick actions, not only in saving a teenager, but also in going back inside to save the animals that I know are part of their family,” said Chief James Sarkos .
