Atlantic City, New Jersey officer saves teen and pets from fire

Over the years, we've had discussions about “community policing” and the return of police officers roaming the streets to keep the peace.

In Atlantic City last month, Officer Riley Flynn was patrolling an area of Maryland Avenue when he noticed a commotion on the sidewalk. As he approached the scene, he saw a young woman hanging from the second story window of a house that was clearly on fire with black smoke coming from it.

Without hesitation, the officer broke down the front door, ran up the stairs and pulled the teen to safety. As heroic as it was, the officer wasn't finished. He quickly returned to the smoke-filled residence and ran through the house to rescue the family's four pets.
