Collingdale police are searching for a man who stabbed a woman pushing a stroller on Wednesday at Chester Pike and Pine Street.

Borough officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 2 p.m. after several witnesses called 911 to report that a man had attacked a woman who was pushing a child in a stroller.

The police continued the story:

The man hit Darby.

Several witnesses chased the attacker into a wooded area along the CSX railroad tracks before losing him. The victim was slightly injured.

She was transported to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for medical treatment. The child was not injured during the incident.

Units from Collingdale, with assistance from Sharon Hill, Darby, Darby Township and Folcroft as well as several other surrounding agencies, established a perimeter in an effort to contain and search for the attacker.

Corporal Folcroft. Gene Mackey and his K-9 partner, Astor, responded to assist with an area search. The actor has not been located despite these efforts.

“We are asking the public to help us identify the actor. He was described as a black man wearing a blue T-shirt and gray pants. In the photo, it appears he was wearing light gray, possibly two-tone, New Balance sneakers and carrying a backpack.

“The actor also has an obvious deformity in his right ear.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Collingdale police at 610-586-0502 or by calling 911 and asking to speak to any officer on duty. Tips can be anonymous on the CrimeWatch portal.
