MOCKSVILLE, North Carolina — The NC Center for Missing Persons has issued an Ashanti Alert for a Davie County woman who is believed to be in danger.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Cynthia Roberson Gobble, 60, to call Captain DJ Smith at the Davie County Sheriff's Office at 336-399-1706. Authorities said there is evidence of physical endangerment, kidnapping or abduction.

Authorities have named Gregory Wayne Gobble, 59, as a suspect in the case.

Gregory Gobble is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and is described as white with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a mustache and beard and sometimes wears a baseball cap with “Colorado” on the front and sunglasses.

What is an Ashanti Alert?

An Ashanti Alert is intended for adults over the age of 17 (unlike an Amber Alert). According to the NC Center for Missing Persons, the Ashanti Alert establishes a nationwide voluntary communications network to assist in the search and recovery of missing persons ages 18 to 64.

The Ashanti Alert Act was passed in 2018. It was named in honor of Ashanti Billie, who was kidnapped and killed in 2017.
