Arsenal have double secret weapon in Michael Olise transfer race as decision is made

Arsenal could benefit from a double secret weapon in the transfer race for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise this summer.

The winger has been one of the much talked about names already ahead of the summer transfer window opening later this month. Even if he sees his injury disrupted by injuries, he attracts the interest of several clubs.

Last season, Chelsea triggered a £35million release clause in his contract. But instead of moving to Stamford Bridge, the Frenchman signed a new deal with Palace which includes a higher release clause, although the new figure is unclear.

Arsenal are among the clubs interested in the 22-year-old and could use his contacts to their advantage this summer. Olise has been left out of the French squad for the European Championships in Germany which start in just over a week, but he will still be busy this summer.

The winger was instead named in France's preliminary squad for the Paris Olympics. The games officially begin on Friday July 26.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry takes charge of the team for matches, meaning he could potentially put in a good word about the club to Olise. He is not the only member of Arsenal the player will spend a lot of time with.

Former Gunners striker Alexandre Lacazette has also been included in the squad. Teams are allowed to include three players over the age of 23, with Lacazette selected as one of the players to bring experience to the team.

While the Olympics do not officially begin until Friday, France will begin its campaign on Wednesday July 24 by facing the United States in its first group match. They will then face Guinea three days later before facing New Zealand in their final group match on Tuesday July 30.
